WordPress and Joomla both are popular CMS software used by million of web developers.

Joomla CMS allows developers to design a website but with less number of categories and limited options. But it is a reverse case in wordpress. WordPress provides web design with unlimited options. It helps to enrich the functionality of the website.

When it comes to blogging, WordPress has proved itself as an excellent CMS. WordPress has many features like widgets, search engine friendliness, categories to post blog etc. Widget is a feature of WordPress which can be arranged without editing the HTML code. WordPress CMS is not developer friendly, it brings bugs whenever it upgrades. But it is an easy to use CMS which is the best part of it. WordPress is XHTML compliant and provides options to create multi-sites. As WordPress is user friendly, it is easy to use. It is very flexible in terms of accessibility. It is completely search engine optimized. WordPress modules can be easily found on internet free of cost. But it lacks in social features like blogging outside.

Joomla is a software which offers platform to publish content on the World Wide Web. Joomla provides features such as Caching, RSS feeds, news flash, blog polls, language internationalization support etc. Joomla CMS is developer friendly. It provides wider range of facilities to the developers to customize the web design. Developers can add new features and can improve the look and feel of the website. Joomla is not XHTML compliant as the WordPress is. It also lacks the facility for creating multi-sites and search engine optimization. Only few Joomla modules are free to use. Joomla web development is more extensible than WordPress development.

When it comes to usability, Both Joomla and WordPress are easy to use. However, Joomla requires some improvements in certain areas. Joomla is a little less flexible and user friendly than WordPress. WordPress is the best option if you are looking for developing a blogging website. Joomla is highly effective if you want to develop complex and highly professional website.
