Tendencies: illustrations in webdesign

I don’t know whether you have also noticed or not, for some time up to now, comics, mangas and cartoons wink at us everywhere. It is the ultimate trend: banned are the boring company pictures of photolia, at large are the close-ups which evoke only narcissism…in websites we have to insert a cartoon nowadays.

And if until recently these “mascots” were mainly little hair balls such as birds, squirrels or monkeys, the new tendency is: take to the web your own cartoon. Or otherwise, the cartoon of somebody who physically or conceptually resembles or represents us.

Perfect in freelance websites, a little more daring in the websites of already consolidated companies, the choice of auto-illustration is innovative and in the majority of cases grasps the attention in a positive way.

Of course, a little bit of self-irony is needed to present oneself to potential clients with a large mouth like that of a horse or with exaggerated protruding ears: but it’s a fact, honesty pays off, daring also, creativity even more.

However, voluntarily ignoring poorly designed illustrations or the typical excesses of each trend (never forget that every style is a good and fair thing, if on a small dosage) it is impossible not to feel sympathy for some of these designs. That’s exactly what, in a website which intends to attract customers, and above all sell, can make the difference.

Let’s check together some websites, which by correctly integrating illustrations make it in turning them into a winning feature, their proper point of strength.
